Akhlaghi is a registered patent attorney and electrical engineer who graduated first in his electrical engineering class at the University of Maryland. Before founding NovoTech, he was a partner at McDermott Will & Emery, practiced at Fish & Richardson and served as in-house counsel at Panasonic in Japan. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland, where he teaches Legal Aspects of Entrepreneurship, and a co-author of the Patent Applications Handbook.
